Farquhar Fest 2007
On August 25, 2007 we had a grand celebration for our daughters one year at home anniversary. We brought them home to U.S. soil on August 20, 2006. We had over 50 people join us to celebrate and 20 of those 50 were children. We started the day off at 10:30 with a parade around the block. The parade consisted of our neighbors and their families, friends, and lots of children dressed up and playing instruments, and riding bikes or walking. Galina rode her two wheeler with the new training wheels just put on. Valerie rode her tricycle. Both bikes were decorated with streamers and ribbons. We left our house and walked to the corner and there our neighbors Donna Marie and Dave waved us on with flags. It was a great parade for this age group.
After going around the block one and a half times we ended up our backyard park. We had a big Castle Bouncer that we rented in one corner of the park. Chalk drawing on the basketball court along with other ridding toys. Relay races of spoons and golf balls, gunnysac races, hoola hoops, and bubbles. Justina brought over her parachute so we spent time with that. It was a great day for the kids to just play and do some really fun things. We had a barbeque for everyone around 1:00pm.
With all the activity and play, Valerie crashed around 2:00pm, so I put her to bed and I don't think she woke up until 5:00pm. We had friends stay over until about 9:30 pm. Grace was staying the night and was an enormous help keeping my kitchen in order and making sure things were good. Over all it was an excellent event! Fun had by everyone!
