John the Baptized

It was very hard to sleep after meeting the girls. So much emotion and hard to contain it all. We were both just bursting with it. On our second visit Galina came to me right away, but when she saw John she clung to me crying. We were back in the large playroom. John was given Valya to hold and play with while Galina continued to cry and cling to me. She allowed John to be in the room. She did stop crying fairly quickly, but she would not let me go. She held on to me so tightly. I played with her in my arms giving her kisses on the arms and head. We rocked together and I sang to her. What was really neat is that we happened to be sitting near the TV where she could see our reflection in the screen. She watched us together in the reflection and from time to time she snuck a peek at John who was playing with her sister. During this time John was baptized into father hood by Valya. Apparently she did not have a diaper on and she soaked his lap twice. He was so wet. They asked us to bring diapers for the next day. We bought many diapers for them. It was a great day in that Galina finally got down from my lap and played with me allowing John to be in the room, and he could get within 5 feet of her. We had a brightly colored picture book of animals. She loved it and amazed me by repeating the words that I said. She would point to the lion and I would say lion, and then she repeated the word. We did that on every page and then she had us go back and do it three times more. She is just amazing. A great day of many breakthroughs.

  • John it's alright, I have that effect on most kids in the US. (the screaming and hiding part, not the peeing.)
