Adopting the Girls in the States
We have been working on adopting the children in the U.S. so that we can get their middle names changed, their S.S. number, and U.S. passports. We contacted a lawyer and $300. 00 later we have to switch lawyers because he dose not know how to do an international adoption. We called WACAP too late. We should have called them first. Any way the lawyer was telling us we didn't need the pre-placement report for court and he was going to ask the judge to waive that. That just didn't sound right to us since we had a perfectly good home study that he could have used. Turns out he really didn't know what he was doing and he was charging us to learn. WACAP quickly recommended someone else in our area that has done lots of international adoptions and knows exactly what we need. We wished we had contacted our agency first.
On the brighter side we are enjoying our girls so much! They are both such sparkles and happy children. We are very lucky and our family and friends are so happy for us! It is wonderful to be a family. Galina is speaking so many words now, but not sentences yet, and she can count to 5. Valerie has said two recognizable words: meow and bye bye! It is all very exciting. We must get a growth chart for they are growing fast! I swear Valerie just grew out of her size 4 shoes today! Galina's size 8 sneakers are too small now. I must go shoe shopping again!!

Please, could you email me or post the name of the attorney you are using so that I can just piggyback on your experience?
Thank you so much.
